The learning groups in Mistra Sport & Outdoors work to develop knowledge and solutions to challenges in sports and outdoor life. The groups consist of organizations, companies, authorities and researchers who work together.

Challenges:
How and what change can we make in sport, outdoor recreation and the physical education and health subject for a more environmental sustainable development?

- What constraints are there, and have there been, to achieve change?
Sustainable transport solutions, WP2
Challenges:
How can we create environmentally sustainable and attractive transport solutions that provide a fair and equal accessibility to sport and outdoor recreation for all groups in society?
- How can transport solutions be designed for a more sustainable accessibility under different geographic conditions, such as cities, suburbs and rural areas?
- How can physical planning practices be developed to create more sustainable access to sport and outdoor recreation?
- How can we develop more accurate principles, methods and tools to support planning of organized activities, facilities and events in order to achieve a more equal mobility and accessibility within sports and outdoor recreation?
Sustainable use of land and water, WP3
Challenges:
How can we manage impact from sport and outdoor recreation on land- and water environments in physical planning and management?
- What impacts are there from sport- and outdoor recreation facilities on land- and water environments in different landscapes?
- How can environmental impacts be managed in relation to demands for accessibility and co-use of land- and water environments in different landscapes?
Material and sustainable equipment, WP4
Challenges:
What can contribute to minimized environmental impact and more circular solutions over the life-cycle, for materials and equipment within sport and outdoor recreation? What examples of measures and solutions are important for;
- Manufactures and retailers of material and equipment?

- Organizations, clubs or other associations within sport and outdoor recreation?

How can we create environmental sustainable events in sport and outdoor recreation?

- What measures do event visitors and event participants need to undertake?

Behaviour, policy and future change, WP6
Challenges:
How can coordinated efforts be made leading to more streamlined decision-making to enhance the environmental sustainability within the sport and outdoor recreation sectors?
- What combination of policies, strategies, tools and practices can most effectively lead to a society-wide movement that embraces environmentally sustainable sport and outdoor recreation?
- How can the sport and outdoor recreation sectors guide consumers, businesses and organizations to embrace a more sustainable behavior?
